The Future of Consciousness Transfer: Biointegration and Personal Immortality

Let’s suppose that at some point in the future, technology will allow us to create artificial copies of bodies. Here are some ways consciousness transfer could work.

Method 1

It would be necessary to connect an artificial brain to a living one. The brain would detect the implant and, over time, start using its new capabilities. Gradually, consciousness would fill the implant like an empty vessel, eventually making it an inseparable part of itself. Even if the biological tissue begins to die off, the brain would autonomously transfer information from the dying cells to the hardware. The integration algorithm for the hardware would be implemented at the genetic level.

Method 2

Some kind of substance or medication could be used to upgrade brain cells and give them the property of “immortality.” These cells would be strengthened and gradually transformed into an inorganic form. For example, by manipulating genes, you could set an algorithm like “replace flesh with silicon.” This “silicon” would have all the properties of flesh—and maybe even better ones—except for the ability to be killed.

Conclusion

In both cases, the individual personality is preserved, and there is no destruction of the self, as happens when information is simply copied from the brain. Reading thoughts is already possible today, and disabled people are being given fantastic abilities like controlling computers with their minds. It all sounds like science fiction, but I believe in the future.
